About Dynasty Compass

Dynasty Compass is a fantasy football podcast about strategic thinking. Instead of telling dynasty managers what moves to make, the show helps you find your bearings, chart your course, and navigate the long game toward perennial contention.

Each half-hour-or-less episode blends strategic insight with clear, actionable guidance, focusing on how to think like a savvy dynasty manager. It’s not about having all the right answers—it’s about learning to ask the right questions.

The Four Strategic Directions

Every dynasty roster has a direction. Understanding where you are—and where you want to go—shapes every trade, draft pick, and roster decision you make.

  • Close-up of a black compass with white markings and the letter N indicating north

    North

The ultimate goal. True North means perennial contention: a roster built to compete for championships year after year after year.

  • Close-up of a compass face centered on a W indicating west with degree markings.

    West

Win-now. This is the direction for managers pushing all-in to win a title this season, even if it comes at the expense of future competitiveness.

  • Close-up of a compass needle pointing south, with the letter 'S' visible.

    South

When a roster needs to be torn down to the studs, the strategic direction is South: a commitment to long-term rebuilding.

  • Close-up of a compass showing east (E)

    East

Teams in the East are neither strong enough to contend nor weak enough to rebuild. But fortune can still favor those who wait and see.

FAQs

  • Dynasty Compass is a fantasy football podcast that helps dynasty managers develop long-term strategies for building rosters that continually contend for championships. Rather than offer weekly lineup advice, the show focuses on the strategic frameworks that guide your decisions.

Origin of “The Other Jeff B”

Footballguys already had a Jeff B—Jeff Bell—on staff, but the nickname actually came from the Footballguys Discord community. Whenever either Jeff was typing a response, the notification would say “Jeff B is typing.” More than once, people were disappointed when it wasn’t Jeff Bell answering their question, leading Jeff Blaylock to say, “Sorry, I’m the other Jeff B.”
